The right light for your garage

Ceiling lights & damp-proof luminaires: The classic solution for uniform basic lighting – robust, weather-resistant, and the most reliable companion in a garage. Ideal for single garages, double garages, and carports.

Damp-proof lights: Garages are not living spaces – temperature fluctuations, moisture, and dust are part of the environment. Damp-proof lights with an IP rating withstand conditions where normal lights would fail.

Workshop lights: Anyone working on projects in the garage needs bright, glare-free light – without shadows and without flickering. Neutral white light (4000 K) shows colors and details as they really are.

Under-cabinet lights & additional lighting: For workbenches, shelves, and dark corners – targeted light exactly where you are working.

What you should consider before buying

IP protection rating: For garages, we recommend at least IP44 – this protects against splashing water and dust. For open carports or particularly damp areas, IP65 is better.

Light color: Warm white for living areas, neutral white (4000 K) for the garage – this allows you to recognize oil stains, tools, and colors clearly and without distortion.

Brightness: Garages need more lumens than living spaces. Plan for at least 300–500 lux for general areas, and closer to 750 lux or more for workshop areas.

Light sources: Many garage lights use E27 or GU10 sockets – in LED versions for maximum longevity and low operating costs.
