LED stripe, LED strip, LED band, or LED light tape – there are many names for a similar principle of flexible, indirect lighting: a narrow, pliable strip with many small LEDs that can be installed behind furniture, in niches, or along contours. In this collection at Saasil, you will find Neonflex light tubes, accessories for existing 230V LED strips, as well as an RGB controller. To ensure you make the right decision regardless of what exactly you are looking for, we also explain the most important terms regarding LED stripes, RGBW, RGBIC, LED profiles, and smart home control on this page.

LED Stripe or Neonflex? The difference

A classic LED stripe consists of individually recognizable LED dots on a narrow, self-adhesive strip and is usually installed together with an aluminum profile to bundle the light and protect the LEDs from damage. Neonflex, on the other hand, hides the LEDs in a continuous, milky casing, which creates a tube-like, uniform appearance without visible individual dots – ideal for contours, lettering, or outdoor use.

What will you find in this Saasil collection?

Our current assortment focuses on Neonflex and matching accessories. Neonflex light tubes are weatherproof (IP44) and are excellent for decoratively illuminating contours, railings, or planters on the patio, in the garden, or on the balcony. They are available, among other options, as a 6-meter green light tube, a 6-meter light tube with 120 red LEDs for indoor/outdoor use, a 6-meter yellow light tube, as well as a 6-meter warm white light tube – each with a plug for direct connection to 230 volts.

For existing 230V LED strips, you will find suitable connectors, such as the straight 2-pin connector with a 70 cm cable length or the compact 2-pin corner connector for 45-degree angles. If you wish to control an existing 12V RGB installation, the 300-watt RGB controller with radio remote control is the perfect solution. For special applications, we also offer self-adhesive RGB LED strips for TV backlighting as well as the LED night light with motion sensor.

We currently do not stock classic LED strip yard goods for custom cutting, nor do we carry LED profiles, aluminum profiles, or diffuser covers in this collection. For suitable under-cabinet lighting, it is worth taking a look at our under-cabinet lights.

Where are LED strips used?

In the living room, LED strips behind the TV or along the sideboard provide atmospheric, indirect light. In the kitchen, they complement under-cabinet lighting. In the bedroom, they create a relaxed atmosphere as a light strip behind the bed. On the TV itself, LED backlighting reduces eye strain while streaming and enhances contrast. For gaming, many users employ LED strips for immersive lighting around the desk or monitor. On staircases, LED strips mark individual steps as orientation light. In display cases and shelves, they highlight collectibles or books. In the bathroom, models with the appropriate protection class are suitable for indirect mirror lighting. In motorhomes and caravans, compact 12-volt strips provide atmospheric light in the smallest of spaces. In commercial areas, shop fitting, hotels, at the bar, or in restaurants, LED strips and Neonflex add targeted light accents to product presentations or interior design.

Light Colors: Warm White, RGB, RGBW & RGBIC

Warm white (2,700–3,000 K) feels cozy and is suitable for living and sleeping areas. Neutral white (4,000 K) appears clearer and more functional, for instance in the kitchen. Cold white (from 5,000 K) is usually used in functional or commercial areas. RGB strips can be set to almost any color, classically uniformly across the entire length. RGBW supplements the RGB color channels with an additional white channel for richer white tones. RGBIC (also known as "Dream Color") goes one step further: here, different sections of the same strip can be controlled in different colors simultaneously, which allows for flowing color gradients. Our RGB controller manages classic single-color RGB installations; we do not currently carry RGBW or RGBIC strips in our assortment.

LED Profiles, Aluminum Profiles & Accessories

For classic LED strip installations, an LED profile or aluminum profile is frequently used: an aluminum rail into which the strip is inserted. It serves simultaneously as a heat sink, mechanical protection, and optical housing. A diffuser cover made of matte plastic is placed on the profile and ensures that individual LED dots are no longer visible, but rather a uniform light strip is created. LED profiles, aluminum profiles, and diffuser covers are currently not part of our assortment in this collection.

Smart Home Control: Alexa, Zigbee, Wi-Fi & App

Many classic LED strip systems can now be controlled smartly – via a Wi-Fi controller and app, via Zigbee as part of a smart home system, or via voice command via Alexa or Google Home, for example as an alternative to well-known systems like Philips Hue. Our RGB controller in this collection, however, is controlled classically via an included radio remote control, without app, Wi-Fi, or Zigbee connection. If you are looking for true smart home control, you should look specifically for Wi-Fi or Zigbee-compatible controllers – we would be happy to advise you personally if you have any questions.

Color Rendering (CRI) & Brightness (Lumens)

For living spaces, a color rendering index of Ra 80 is usually sufficient. Anyone using LED strips for task lighting, such as in the kitchen, should look for Ra 90 or higher to ensure colors appear natural. For brightness, it is best to orient yourself by lumens per meter rather than just the wattage: for decorative accent lighting, 200–400 lumens per meter are often enough; for functional lighting like under-cabinet units, 600 lumens per meter or more are recommended.

Why LED Strips and Neonflex?

LED light strips are energy-efficient, particularly durable, and versatile in use. They can be installed with an adhesive backing, are usually dimmable, and produce an indirect, low-glare light that optimally complements classic ceiling lights.

What you should consider before purchasing

Voltage: Our Neonflex light tubes are operated directly with 230 volts via plug and do not require an additional transformer. The RGB controller, however, is designed for 12-volt installations – check before purchase which voltage your existing system uses. Suitable transformers and LED drivers as well as dimmers can also be found at Saasil.

Weather resistance & protection class: For outdoor use on the patio, balcony, or in the garden, you need models with a sufficient protection class such as IP44. Products intended purely for indoor use are not designed for permanent exposure to moisture.

Length & Extension: Our Neonflex light tubes are available in 6-meter lengths. With the appropriate connectors, existing 230V LED strips can also be easily extended or laid around corners.
