Collection: Transformers & LED drivers – the invisible heart of your lighting

No light source works without the right power supply. Whether you need an LED driver, transformer, converter, ballast, or power adapter – here you will find the right solution for almost any lighting application. For residential spaces, commercial and contract lighting, both domestically and abroad.

Which power supply is right for you? – A quick comparison

Type Ideal for
Electronic halogen transformer 12V halogen and LED systems
Constant current LED driver Built-in LED modules
Constant voltage power supply LED strips & 12V/24V systems
Dimmable driver Dimmable LED & halogen installations
International plug-in power supply UK/US lamps & imported goods

The right solution for your system

LED drivers & LED power supplies: Stable, safe, and long-lasting power supply for LED lamps. Whether you need a constant current driver (350 mA, 500 mA, 700 mA), a dimmable LED driver, or a 12V or 24V LED power supply – here you will find the right driver for pendant lights, furniture lights, under-cabinet lights, and LED strips. Concrete examples include the dimmable 700mA constant current driver with 36 watts, the compact 3-watt replacement driver for 6–12V systems, or the LED driver with a dash-dot connector for table and floor lamps.

Transformers: Our transformers cover almost all voltage ranges – 12V, 24V, 230V. Toroidal transformers, block transformers, electronic transformers, and halogen transformers for low-voltage systems and cable and rail systems, such as the dimmable electronic transformer for 10–60 watt halogen loads or the more powerful electronic transformer for 50–210 watts.

International power supplies & plug-in transformers: Do you have a lamp from the USA or Great Britain? We carry plug-in power supplies and transformers for US networks (120V) and UK plugs, such as the UK plug-in transformer with 12V AC output – ensuring international design lamps and spare parts work perfectly in German outlets. You can find the complete selection in our collection for international power supplies.

Ballasts, converters & controllers: For precise control of your lighting: LED converters, voltage converters, plug-in power supplies, and dimmers for modern lighting systems, such as the 3-step touch dimmer as an inline cord dimmer. You can find matching LED & halogen dimmers in our dimmer collection.

What you should consider before purchasing

Three things are decisive: the required output voltage (12V, 24V, or 230V), the wattage of your lamps, and whether you need dimming functionality. Constant current drivers protect LEDs from overloading and ensure flicker-free, even light – which is especially important for high-quality installations.

We stock products from well-known manufacturers such as Relco, Sompex, Eaglerise, Malmbergs, EGLO, Starlicht, ESTO, Kanlux, and V-TAC – all tested for quality, safety, and energy efficiency.

What specifications must I compare?

Before ordering a transformer or driver, you should match six specifications with your existing system or lamp: input voltage (usually 230V), output voltage (e.g., 12V, 24V), current in milliamperes for constant current drivers, wattage, the existing plug type or connector, and for DC applications, the polarity. If these values do not match, it can lead to malfunctions or, in the worst case, a defect.

Common mistakes during selection

Wrong current: A constant current driver with the wrong milliampere rating can underpower or overpower connected LEDs. Wrong voltage: A transformer with a different output voltage can damage the light source or prevent it from lighting up at all. Too little wattage: If the transformer's power is insufficient for the connected load, it may lead to flickering, overheating, or failure. Transformer not LED-compatible: Classic halogen transformers often require a minimum load that energy-efficient LED light sources may fall below – the result is flickering or a total failure.

Plan for a wattage buffer

A transformer should not be permanently loaded at 100% capacity. Plan for a reserve of about 20% in wattage so that the transformer does not constantly operate at its limit – this protects the component and noticeably extends its service life.

Which replacement driver do I need?

If a driver is defective, take a look at the original component: Note down the input and output voltage, current or wattage, and the connection type. With this information, you can usually find a matching, identical, or compatible replacement driver with us, even if the exact original model is no longer available.

CE marking & safety

When purchasing, look for the CE marking, which confirms that the product meets applicable European safety requirements. This is an important quality feature, especially for electrical components like transformers and drivers.

IP ratings for transformers & power supplies

IP20 is suitable for indoor use in dry rooms. IP44 is suitable for areas with occasional splashing water, such as damp rooms. IP67 is required if the transformer is permanently exposed to moisture, such as for outdoor installations or near the floor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a constant current and a constant voltage driver?

A constant current driver provides a fixed current (e.g., 350 mA, 500 mA, or 700 mA) and is mostly used for individual LED modules. A constant voltage power supply, on the other hand, provides a fixed voltage (e.g., 12V or 24V) and is particularly suitable for LED strips.

Can I use my old halogen transformer for LED light sources?

Not every old transformer is LED-compatible. Pay attention to the transformer's minimum load, as many classic models are not designed for the lower power consumption of LEDs.

How do I know what wattage I need?

Add up the total power of all connected light sources and choose a transformer or driver with sufficient, but not excessive, capacity for this load.

Can I operate international lamps in Germany?

With a matching plug-in power supply or transformer for UK or US plugs, many international lamps can also be operated on the German power grid.

Are all transformers and drivers dimmable?

No, specifically look for the "dimmable" product specification. Only models labeled accordingly are compatible with leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmers.
