What does a "lampshade for clamping" mean?

With a lampshade for clamping, there is a springy metal mount inside. Unlike a standard lampshade with a socket ring, this mount is not screwed onto the lamp socket. Instead, the lampshade can be placed directly onto the bulb or light source.
