By glass type & surface: Clear glass provides a direct, brilliant light effect. Opal glass diffuses light evenly and minimizes glare, like the replacement glass in white for G4, Ø 56 mm or the milky-transparent replacement glass with a 32 mm opening. Alabaster provides a particularly soft, cozy light diffusion. Crystal, on the other hand, focuses on light reflection and design accents. In addition, there are satin, matte, fluted, or striped options – the right choice for every style.

By shape: Cylinder, globe, teardrop, oval, conical, or rectangular – the shape determines how the light affects the room and how the lamp looks. Examples include the clear teardrop-shaped replacement glass for the Sompex Tear pendant light, the large, rectangular curved replacement glass for wall lights, 30 × 28.5 cm, the oval, milky-white replacement glass for globe lamps, and the conical, matte G9 replacement glass in two sizes.

By socket: Glass shades for E14, E27, G4, GY6.35, and LED modules – all common sockets are covered. For outdoor areas, the replacement glass with a screw thread for E27 outdoor lights is also suitable.

It is not just the outer diameter that matters, but also the diameter of the opening or mounting hole – frequently searched for as 42 mm, 45 mm, 55 mm, or 60 mm glass shades. Measure your original glass as accurately as possible or refer to the manufacturer's specifications before ordering.

A glass shade is usually mounted directly onto or at the socket and primarily provides controlled light diffusion. A lampshade, however, sits on a holder and has a stronger design impact. If you are unsure which solution fits your lamp, take a look at the existing mounting.

Saving old lamps

With the right replacement glass, a cherished lamp does not have to be thrown away. Whether it is an inherited family heirloom or a favorite lamp from years past – often a new glass is enough to make a lamp complete and ready for use again, instead of replacing it with a new model.

Care & Cleaning

Clean glass shades when switched off and cooled down using a soft, slightly damp cloth. For hand-painted or mouth-blown glass, avoid aggressive cleaning agents to prevent damaging the paint and surface. Persistent residue can usually be removed with mild dish soap and a soft cloth.

What you should consider before buying

When buying a replacement glass, three things count: the socket (E14, E27, G4, etc.), the dimensions of the original, and the desired light diffusion. In case of doubt, take a look at the lamp itself – the manufacturer and model name are usually printed on the base. Do you also need a matching lampshade instead of a glass top?
