Which ceiling light is right for you?

Not every ceiling lamp is the right choice for every room. Here is an overview of the most important types.

Surface-mounted lights & ceiling spotlights are perfect as a main light source in living rooms and bedrooms. They sit directly on the ceiling, save space, and are available in countless designs – from round and minimalist, such as the round RIPOSO ceiling light with four spotlights, to square and industrial, like the square version of the RIPOSO series. What you should consider before buying

Room size & brightness (lumens): As a rule of thumb, use approx. 150–200 lumens per square meter for living areas, and 300–500 lumens for work and kitchen areas – such as with an OMEGA office ceiling light with 24 watts. A ceiling lamp that is too weak tires the eyes – one that is too bright feels uncomfortable.

Color temperature (Kelvin): Warm white (2,700–3,000 K) creates a cozy atmosphere and is ideal for the living room and bedroom. Neutral white (4,000 K) is better suited for the kitchen, bathroom, and work areas.

Suitability for damp rooms: For the bathroom or other damp areas, you need models with a sufficient protection rating, such as the IP44 ceiling spotlight for bathrooms & damp rooms. Standard models with IP20 are suitable exclusively for dry rooms.

Dimmability: A dimmable ceiling light makes your ceiling lighting versatile – from bright work lighting to soft evening light. You can also find suitable LED & halogen dimmers at Saasil.

Socket & bulb: Most ceiling lamps use E27 or GU10 sockets. You can find matching E27 bulbs and GU10 bulbs directly in our shop.
